WINKEL GALLERY TURNS ELEVEN (11)!!!!

Today is the Gallery’s 11th Year in Business!

When I started this journey back in 2015, I was 25 years old and only two years removed from college, without the slightest idea how to operate an art gallery or what that even truly meant. Maybe it was confidence or maybe it was naivety, but at the end of the day I had passion, determination, and an unwavering belief in myself and my abilities.

Inside Gallery, Week One, May 2015

Every year that passes, I learn more about myself, the art business, and what it truly means to be an artist.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that art is a necessity in our lives. It builds community, spreads joy, allows us to express ourselves, and creates moments that are emotional, relatable, and deeply human. Art has the power to improve our individual well-being while also bringing people together.

I have always strived to make Winkel Gallery a safe space where visitors can simply enjoy art, exist in a creative environment, and, even if just for a moment, block out the noise of the world and be present.

I’m incredibly grateful for the endless support over the years, the people I’ve met, and the relationships I’ve built along the way. Your support continues to inspire me not only to keep creating, but to continue providing a space for others to enjoy and connect through art.

So for that, I THANK YOU!

The Shared Surface on the back wall

As I reflect on the last 11 years, I’m also incredibly excited about where Winkel Gallery is heading next.

Right now, the gallery feels more alive than ever. Over the past few months we’ve expanded our workshops and interactive experiences, welcomed new visitors into the space, and continued building a community centered around creativity, connection, and accessibility.

Our current exhibition, “Themes & Colors,” has been received incredibly well so far with a few works already selling. The opening reception is next weekend on Saturday, May 16th from 1-4pm, and you’re invited to come experience the artwork and meet the exhibiting artists.

Visitors have especially been enjoying the interactive aspects of the exhibition, including the listening station featuring paired albums selected to accompany each artwork. The other interactive experience, “The Shared Surface,” has been a HUGE success. Watching visitors of all ages let their guard down, create freely, and engage with art in a hands-on way has been one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had as both an artist and gallery owner.

We’re also preparing to launch a new live music series inside the gallery that will further connect visual art, music, and community in a unique and immersive way. More details on that will be coming in the next few weeks, and I can’t wait to share it with everyone.

While we aren’t having a formal celebration for the gallery’s 11th year, I do hope you can join us for the opening reception on Saturday, May 16th. And if you can’t make that, I still hope you’ll stop by sometime before the end of June to contribute to “The Shared Surface.”

After 11 years, it still feels like we’re just getting started.
